If people don't want to buy then don't buy it and don't make your kid wear it, many of us were called cheeky monkeys when we were kids by family and aunties etc ( and alot worse names!) so i don't see the issue. At times i very much feel people who call racism are the one's who are actually thinking like racists themselves.

The first guy that tweeted it is the real racist. If you think it's racist, you're being racist.
Soon, the childrens climbing frame section otherwise known as monkey bars, will have to be renamed in case a black kid plays on them, and a white kid sees the black kid playing on them, and asks him if he's enjoying the monkey bars; by which the 6 year old black kid, of whom bares no resemblance to an animal, is not offended. But a 39-year old mature adult with an inferiority complex may see this incident, and consult the 'racist' childs mother before eventually calling for an international rebranding of the instrument after being interviewed by the BBC. Maybe.

I sometimes wonder if companies do this kind of thing to get publicity from all the outraged social media lovers.
Someone, somewhere must have realized this would not be considered right. The lads parents must have questioned it surely? The modelling agency? The art editor? The photographer?
This is reverse public relations as you all know who H&M are now and they will get loads of outraged wankers in their store looking for more examples to be outraged by...

H&M should have apologised, as they did, but instead of not only pulling the pic, but also pulling the hoody from all stores, they should have put a new picture of a black kid and a white kid, both wearing the monkey hoody.
Some would still be unhappy, but it would at least ridicule them while they try to explain why they are still unhappy.

It's mad that it got through so many stages without someone spotting it. Maybe someone did and they were too afraid to say something in case they were called a racist.
Or maybe it's completely unracist, and they didn't consider the kids skin colour at all, isn't that what we're supposed to do?
